Bij mailbericht van 14 november 2023 heeft Ducapro als volgt aan Q-Waves bericht:
“Dear Mr. [directeur] from Hits 100,
(…) We are reaching out to introduce the Dutch Caribbean Performing Rights Organization (DUCAPRO) in collaboration with BUMA/STEMRA of the Netherlands. Together, we are tasked with the global (including local) representation of music authors and artists, aiming to safeguard their rights and oversee the collection of royalties.
Historically, the Dutch Caribbean lacked an organization dedicated to this vital task, resulting in a lapse in the collection of royalties for music creators. DUCAPRO and BUMA/STEMRA’s joint efforts have changed this scenario, extending their services to the Dutch Caribbean, including Aruba.
Our norms and tariffs are based on internationally recognized standards within the music industry while being mindful of the unique characteristics of the tiny Caribbean island markets.
Commencing January 1, 2024, possession of a license granted by DUCAPRO will be mandatory for the legal and rightful use of music in Aruba. Please inform us of your willingness to voluntarily enter into a license agreement for commercial music use (…).”
